Option 1 I believe worked so I didn't need to try option 2. Once I got over the cmd prompt issue, it was easy. Now I'm having an issue with indexing and search failed to initialize. One suggestion I found was through Control panel indexing options advanced to do both a restore defaults and rebuild. But I get a message that "Indexing is reduced due to user activity. If you choose to rebuild now, the index will be unavailable and will not be rebuilt until indexing is restored." Should I hit OK? Is there another way as I know this may take hours. Thank you for the great advice. -- maglib |

Try reinstall Windows Search http://www.microsoft.com/windows/pro...wssearch4.mspx It it don't help,go to StartSearchservices.msc stop & disable *Windows Search* service. This service isn't very needed. -- Flavius |

I think you've been the only tech person who has actually got my issues resolved on the first shot. Hoping there won't be any more.... Still stuck with Vista...... Working on updating an older ME computer to XP. Wish me luck. Thank you. -- maglib |
