Hello World!
Two problems with MDI (very neat format introduced by MS Office 2003 / 2007 for scanned documents) in Vista: 1. Windows Search just won't search OCR'd text inside MDI files. It won't even return MDI file if the filename matches search keyword. (BTW - MDI file extension is selected in the Indexing Options / File Types tab (associated with "MODI Document Filter Class") and "Index Properties and File Contents" option is enabled. 2. Cannot get the MDI files preview contents when selecting "Large Icons" view in Windows Explorer. All other file types (including PDF and TIFF) show preview in this mode, but not MDI files. Cannot understand why there is such poor support for this format in Vista. Has anyone figured this out (the two questions above- - dont really care about my philosophical question on poor support for MDI files :-) Thank you. |

Hello Gougler,
Same problem for me. Could you resolve the problem ? Bernard. "gougler" wrote: Hello World! I am having the same problem as Gougler described in his first problem.
Windows search will not return any .mdi files in the results. Has this been resolved at all? Also, inside Microsoft Document Imaging, when I click Tools Options... then select the OCR tab, there is a section labeled 'Indexing settings' which has a button labeled 'Indexing service...'. However, this button is "ghosted out" and it won't allow me to select it. Are these problems related? Any help would be much appreciated. "Bernard" wrote: Hello Gougler, Same problem for me.
