I have been unable to connect via wireless recently because my computer will
not locate any networks. I let Windows diagnose the problem and get a message stating that "the Windows Wireless Service is not running on this computer". I am given an option to start Windows Wireless Service but am then given a message that Windows cannot resolve the problem. This is a new problem, I have used wireless many times with no issues. ANy ideas? |

WLAN service depends on other services such as Extensible Authentication
Protocol, Native WiFi Filter, NDIS Usemode I/O Protocol and Remote Procedure (RPC). Make sure they are running. -- Bob Lin, MS-MVP, MCSE & CNE Networking, Internet, Routing, VPN Troubleshooting on http://www.ChicagoTech.net How to Setup Windows, Network, VPN & Remote Access on http://www.HowToNetworking.com "Steve" wrote in message ... I have checked the dependencies and the items with gears by them are all
started. However, I'm not sure about Native Wifi Filter and NDIS Usemode. I see them listed as dependencies but do not see them on the services list. Where do I find them and start them if necessary? Hi, Sorry if I'm reviving a dead thread here, but I am having exactly the same problem - NDIS Usermode I/O Protocol is the problem in Device Manager, but I have no idea how to solve it. It says that the driver is not properly installed or is missing, but ndisuio.sys is present in windows/system32/drivers. I can't modify, rename or move that file to replace it with a ndisuio.sys from someone else's computer, so I have no idea how I'm going to fix it - or what went wrong in the first place. In the properties in device manager, there is a "Start" button for the driver, which does nothing. And I've tried loads of things to get rid of this - i changed the value of "start" for ndisuio in regedit to (2) under someone's advice, i ran a batch file supposed to restore all the defaults in windows from some problem website which didn't help at all, etc. Please help ![]() -- al_kh89 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ al_kh89's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/85158.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/windows-v...ork/866102.htm http://forums.techarena.in |
