Default Reinstall/Repair WMP

Initiate a file backup for your computer for All Programs. It will prevent losing your media files if saved on the local disk vice a portable hard drive.
Disconnect any periphery devices from the computer and then go to the Add/Remove programs and select "Remove Program--Windows Media Player".
Reboot the computer and repeat the application removal for the Windows Media Format Run-time and Microsoft User-Mode Driver Framework Feature Pack 1.0.0. Then, reboot your system.
Download the latest version of Windows Media Player from Microsoft.com and re-install the application.
