Default IExplorer works great but...

I am running vista home with all the updates. I have ms one live accouint
with messanger v. 2008 build 8.5.

I can run explorer fine and it loads all the sites fine. The problem lies
with the fact that I cannot sign into Messanger or any p2p sites such as
napster. The message I get is that the system is temporarily not in service.
I check the sites directly in IE and get "System is running".

I have used the help Facility and run through all the suggestions to no
avail. I have gone through the firewall and added all these programs to the
accepted list, still no connection. I have run the Virus checker with no
adverse results. I have tried to disable both virus checker and firewall,
again no help.

My network sharing is setup correctly and the nework is running fine. the
diagnostic programs say there is no problems.

I hope someone may have an answer.
