I thought this to be a bit strange, but figured that the upgrade would
smooth things out. Later, when the upgrade was nearing completion, I
got an error saying that one or more devices could not be configured. I
tried this twice. So, I tried to do some research into my IDE storage
contoller. The IDE storage controller driver shows no signature or
provider name in Everest or Device Manager. I tried automatically
updating the driver and Windows said that it could not locate a driver
for my product. I searched the internet for some reference to this type
of problem, or for some reference to a driver available for download
with absolutely no luck.
So, should my IDE storage contoller have a digitally signed
driver? and if so, from whom? Any other ideas?

that the card reader I had installed a few weeks previously accessed one
of my IDE ports. So I disconnected the reader and uninstalled the ide
driver via task manager and voila! problem solved. I was able to
upgradeand everything is working perfectly. I hope this helps some

when the installer told me I needed to update the drivers for my IDE
drive. Well, I do not have any IDE drives, and my IDE controller is
disabled in bios, so I found that strange. Looking in device manager,
under Storage Controllers I found an IDE controller with a strange 8
character name ADO4JJV IDE Controller. I deleted it, rebooted, and it
returned with another random 8 character name. I did some Google
searches & found out that it was actually created by Alcohol 120%. I
uninstalled Alcohol & viola! It was gone immediately.

So if you are having this problem, & you have Alcohol 120%, or Deamon
Tools installed just uninstall before upgrading to Windows 7 & you will be
all set!
