I have set up a second user but some of the files on my original user are
appearing on the desktop of the second user - how do I stop them from
appearing

There are 2 locations for the Desktop.

Each user has their own desktop and the folder for this location is:

C:\Users\username\Desktop (Where 'username' is the name of the users
account)
The items in this folder only appear on that users desktop.

The second location is:

C:\Users\Public\Desktop
The items in this folder will appear on all users desktops.

Some installation programs will place a shortcut to a program in the all
users location. You can move the items to the folder where you want them to
appear.
