Default Network Map Issue

From: "pjp"

Vista Home Basic laptop mixed with Win7 and XP desktops on a home
network. All shares etc. work correctly.

The problem is "Display Network Map" basically hangs while stating
"Creating Network Map". PC becomes almost unusable and requires Task
Manager to kill the process before pc returns to "kind of normal". It
appears to be a "scvhost" process so unsure exactly what it's "running".
I say "kind of" because after doing this the PC also hangs at Logging
Off which normally it doesn't do but nothing seems amiss until then.

I found a short listing of various services etc. should be running but
the names didn't exactly match what I found under Services. I insured
what seemed appropriate was set to "Automatic" which they already were.
The correct protocol is installed, even uninstalled and reinstalled to
insure that.

Not a big issue but bothersome. Any ideas?

Have you installed the Link Layer Transport Protocol on all WinXP PCs ?
