Hi,
Is there any way to select a user account on other PCs of the same workgroup and give that user modify permission on a folder? I need to give modify permission to a specific user on XP pro pc which is part of the same workgroup to use a folder on my vista business folder. Like when you pick a user account from a domain and give that user specific permisssion to use the folder. Med |

You would have to recreate that user on your PC and assign permissions
to that user... --- Jeffrey Randow Windows Networking MVP 2001-2006 http://www.networkblog.net On Mon, 24 Dec 2007 00:56:38 -0000, "Med" wrote: Hi, Is there any way to select a user account on other PCs of the same workgroup and give that user modify permission on a folder? What's relevant is the account on the computer where the folder is hosted. Having a matching account on the other computers is useful, but not essential. This is true if you have Simple File Sharing disabled. http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/06/file-sharing-under-windows-xp.html#NonGuest http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/0....html#NonGuest -- Cheers, Chuck, MS-MVP 2005-2007 [Windows - Networking] http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/ Paranoia is not a problem, when it's a normal response from experience.
