Hello! I have the same problem with my c4100 HP printer. Is there any way that you would be able to post or e-mail the entire directions? These weren't quite detailed enough for my experience level. Thank you so much! lucy;578923 Wrote: I run VISTA now, and this is an outline of sorts, of what HP wrote: 1) Turn off the Terminate and Stay Resident programs MSCONFIG in VISTA. 2) Disable HP device discovery service. 3) Uninstall the All-In-One software. 4) Turn off firewall and antivirus. 5) Reinstall the latest software for the All-In-One. Hope this helps. -- losangelitos |

I have the HP Deskjet 4260 and it's driving me crazy. Same problem as everyone else. If I turn it on and off, it reinstalls all the drivers. If I reboot, it reinstalls all the drivers. My printer settings get lost with each reinstall, and despite following the Microsoft instructions for completely deleting any reference to HP (uninstalling from the disc etc), it still reinstalls all the time. I now have 5 copies of it in the printer folder and none of them will work. Plus the 'default' one has 3 documents stuck in a queue that won't delete, (and therefore won;t print), not even if I reboot. I think this driver problem is also preventing the Service Pack 1 being available to me. It's 4 months old and I'm thinking of taking it back to Argos with a printout to prove it's not just me! But I just stuck 2 brand new inks in there which cost over £50 (a little less than the printer) and I can't get hold of the help desk. As a last resort I'm going to try the suggestions here, but if that doesn't work, I'm taking it back" -- soozie |
