i purchased a new laptop which runs windows vista. i connect via a router to
a desktop running windows xp. i have a printer connected to the desktop. i want to print to the desktop printer from the laptop (remember each running different versions of windows) but i cannot get the laptop to find the printer. is this a problem because i am using two different versions of windows? -- CHAS45 |

Using different OS should not be the issue. However, can you see the XP
computer by using net view \\xphostname? If not, post back with the system error code. -- Bob Lin, MS-MVP, MCSE & CNE Networking, Internet, Routing, VPN Troubleshooting on http://www.ChicagoTech.net How to Setup Windows, Network, VPN & Remote Access on http://www.HowToNetworking.com "CHAS45" wrote in message news ![]() i purchased a new laptop which runs windows vista. i connect via a router to a desktop running windows xp. i have a printer connected to the desktop. i want to print to the desktop printer from the laptop (remember each running different versions of windows) but i cannot get the laptop to find the printer. is this a problem because i am using two different versions of windows? -- CHAS45 |
