I am having a problem viewing and accessing my XP machines from my VISTA
machine. I have read all the threads and have tried it all. My host computer is the VISTA computer, and my other two are XPs. I have a wireless router and can access the intranet through them all. The two XP machines can see the VISTA machine, but the VISTA machine can not see the XP machines. I have I have updated the XP PCs with LLTD protocol as suggested I'm using the same Workgroup name at both machines. In Vista, I have - Network Discovery: ON, Network type set to Private, Media sharing:ON, File Sharing: ON, and Public Folder Sharing: ON I have been working on this for hours and hours. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I am no computer expert, but do have some experience. I even contacted the router experts who helped me set the network up, but stated they were not allowed to assist with file and printer sharing - they are only allowed to help you get the intranet connected. |

When you say that one computer "cannot see" another, you're discussing the Network display I'd bet, not the Network Map. The LLTD responder is not relevant here. Check the personal firewalls on the XP computers. http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2006/07/advanced-windows-networking-using.html http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2006/0...ing-using.html Then diagnose the problem, using logs from "browstat status", "ipconfig /all", "net config server", and "net config workstation", from each computer. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow instructions precisely (Download browstat, and note how to start a command window in Vista as an administrator!): http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/troubleshooting-network-neighborhood.html#AskingForHelp http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/0...#AskingForHelp -- Cheers, Chuck, MS-MVP 2005-2007 [Windows - Networking] http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/ Paranoia is not a problem, when it's a normal response from experience.
