Default disabling alps pointing device

I am trying to disable the touch pad for I am using an external mouse and
don't need it. It is just getting in the way when typing. I have followed the
following instructions they are not working for me.

In this one here, there is no Touch tab.
To turn the touch pointer on or off in Control Panel
Tap to open Pen and Input Devices.

Tap the Touch tab.

Under Touch Pointer, select or clear the Show the touch pointer when I’m
interacting with items on the screen check box.

Under toolbars there is no selection for Touch pointer.
To turn the touch pointer on or off from the taskbar
Use your finger to press and hold the taskbar.

Point to Toolbars, and then tap Touch Pointer.

To turn the touch pointer on or off, tap the Touch Pointer icon on the
taskbar.

Hi Nepelus,

In order for people to be able to help you, they need more information from
you. What is the make and model of your laptop?

This did not work. Is it model and/or OS specific?
