Vista Home Premium. Automatic Update.
2 weeks ago no problems. Everything worked fine.
Then when starting Windows at the "Welcome" prompt, nothing happened. That
is, the program remained at twirling circle screen. There was disk activity
but nothing happened. When I hit the power key, the screen went black, more
disk activity. The program was still on, but nothing more happened. Turned
off machine by holding power for 3 seconds.
Ran MSconfig, but didn't help. Am now operating in Safe Mode.
Do not recall installing any software which may have caused the problem.
Help!

Hi,

So are you suspecting it was an update? Or are you stating that you
installed some two weeks ago and hadn't rebooted since?

Have you tried loading the last known good config?
Just letting it run until the profile loads or the activity stops?
Uninstalling suspect updates?
