Default Printer sharing

I purchased a laptop with Vista Home OS. I successfully created a network
with the laptop and a Dell Dimension 8100 with a XP OS. I have a DSL modem
and a Linksys wireless router as part of the network. I have not been
successfull in sharing a HP PSC 2170 that is connected to the Dell desktop.
When adding a printer on the laptop, I receive a message that states that
windows cannot connect to the printer. The server print spooler service is
not running. Please restart the service on the sever or restart the server
machine. I checked the spooler service on the XP and it is running.

Any suggestions.

Thanks

Walt

Thanks Robert.

I was just able to connect to the printer after making the workgroup name
the same on the laptop and the desktop. I, also, had to shut down the
firewall in the McAfee security center and the windows firewall.

Do the firewalls have to remain disconnected for the laptop to communicate
with the printer?

Go into the firewall's "exceptions" list, and add it.
