I have 3 computers in home:
#1 is connected via Ethernet to DSL and D-Link wireless router, and is running Vista Home Premium. I can connect to Internet fine on #1. #2 is on my wireless network running XP. It connects to Internet just fine. #3 runs Vista Home Premium, but I cannot connect to the Internet. You can see the wireless network with a strong signal, but the connection is Local. If I remove WPA and make the network unsecured, I can connect to the Internet. If I plug in an Ethernet cable in this computer and into a port on the router, I can connect to the Internet. I checked ipconfig and it shows for the wireless network that there is no default gateway, and the user ID does not show like it does when I run ipconfig with the network unsecured. I hope someone can help me out because I need to get some sleep. |

I have just encountered the same problem after downloading the most recent
Microsoft updates. I used system restore to prior to the update and my wireless now gets out to the internet again. I downloaded the updates again and it happened again. So I did restore again, I'm back on the internet. I have 4 wireless all working fine and two Ethernet. It only happens with my Vista Home premium after I upload the new MS updates. Now I am scared to upload anymore MS updates in the future. I can't waste my days troubleshooting their bugs for them. Hope this helps! 1.11 firmware is now available.
some questions: 1. is the router set to mixed b/g/n (or what is it set to?) can you experiment with that setting and 2. can you try WPA2-Personal and use a passphrase like 1234testing ? I fixed this problem! Thanks for all of your help. Here's what I did:
1. Disabled IPv6 for the wireless adapter. When I did this, I saw the default gateway IP address come up and my wife's computer name was recognized. I saw this in ipconfig. 2. Checked the domain for all of the computers on the network. I did this by looking at the map of devices on the network. I then went to the router network settings and found the domain name was blank. I filled in the domain name even though the field says it's optional - don't believe the hype! 3. I also checked off two fields regarding NETBIOS. One of said something about allowing NETBIOS to talk to WAN. I'm at work right now, and I don't remember what the other field was, but I checked it off. Then the wireless network started working! It only took 7 days to solve. Piece of cake. NOT!!! Thanks, Mick & Barb. You gave me clues that helped me resolve this trouble.
