How can you turn off the annoying User Account Control feature without Vista
telling that you have turned it off, and having an icon in the system tray telling you that it is turned off? |

Suggest you spend some time "reviewing" UAC function - for instance there
are five (5) different UAC prompts depending on user action. In addition turning off UAC turns off IE7's Protected Mode - not a "safe" idea. "pbcook456" wrote in message ... I assume you know how to turn it off since you can get the annoying alert.
Here's how to get rid of that alert: Go to the Control Panel, Security Center. On the left pane, it should say "Change the way Security Center alerts me". Click that, and you get the choices on what you want to do. Note that this does change the way ALL security apps alert you (Firewall, Antivirus) through the Security Center. -- Dustin Harper http://www.vistarip.com "pbcook456" wrote in message ... Also, please note that you can "selectively" disable UAC for
individual applications.
