Default HELP! Intermittent Network Connection

For Christmas I was given a computer which I have successfully connected to
my home network. However, occasionally it refuses to connect. I can make it
work again by restarting the computer and resetting the wireless router but
it crops up after a day or so. Is there any way of fixing this problem short
of hibernating the computer instead of shutting it down (if that would
work)?

Any help is appreciated.

SmartRoss
