Cant get a printer to print
Hello,
I face the very same problem. But let me explain more details: 1. Desktop station with Vista 64. HP LaserJet 1018 connected to it (have full support for VISTA 64). Shared. 2. Laptop with XP SP2 x86. 3. Successfully browsed to the shared printer. Installed as a local printer on the Laptop using new local port (\\vista-pc\hpdj). Now, the only way I got this printer to print job from the XP is the following: 1. Turn the UAC OFF. 2. Authenticated from the XP to the VISTA with the username that is the OWNER of the printer. Any other attempts to prints (i.e. with different name, that has full access to the printer from the SECURITY TAB, or UAC ON) just sends the print job to the Queue and nothing happens untill restart of print spooler service on the VISTA. Hi,
Together with the Microsoft TechNet team from the MS Forums we found a solution. The full version is posted he http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/...9862&SiteID=17 In brief: there are some local policies which should be set. And disable the "bidirectional support" at the "Ports" tab of the printer properties. Regards, Anton "Robert L. (MS-MVP)" wrote: Another option without disable UAC is enabling the guest account.
