Default wireless network Icon Please help

I have an acer apire 5630 laptop running vista home premium, here is my issue
when connecting to a wireless internet connection it says i am connected then
it re identifies the network and shows that I am not connected. When i go to
reconnect to a network is says i am connected. I can use the internet and all
is well. The problem arises is that I want to set up a workgroup and since I
am showing that i am not connected it will not work. I have updated the
wireless driver, i have done ALL vista upgrades, I have even tried a
reinstall that did not work. Please help if you can Thanks
