I'm new to Vista's Explorer and have been going nuts trying to figuresome of this mess out. When I click on a folder, then look down in the Details Pane at the bottom it shows the number of files in the folder but NOT the accumulative file size total. I also noticed the same thing when I had the Recycle Bin Folder open. I like knowing the exact size of the folder, I don't really care how many files are in it. Can anybody answer my question, please .. Have I got a setting wrong somewhere?? Thank you so much. Jenn -- JennB213 |

The total size will be in the details at the bottom. -- Dave T. "Many people die at twenty-five and aren't buried until they are seventy-five". Benjamin Franklin |

Jenn, You can also right click the folder and click Properties to see the size of it. Shawn -- brink *There are no dumb questions, just the people that do not ask them.* '*Vista Forums*' (http://www.vistax64.com/index.php?referrerid=2980) *Please post feedback to help others.* |

"Dave T." Bob wrote: Simply hover your mouse over the folder. Hmmm...mine doesn't do that. I don't get size info until the contents of the folder are selected. before opening it, when it's in the right pane. windows seems to calulate it on the fly, so if the folder is big it takes a while. for a folder whose properties say 15.8 gb, the tooltip in explorer after a couple seconds said 'bigger than 2.45 gb'. ciao, ZC |

Not a big deal for me since floppies went away I've never been concerned about file size, but what you guys are seeing isn't on my computer. I just noticed though that "Documents" is in a pictures format. Something new to work on... -- Dave T. "Many people die at twenty-five and aren't buried until they are seventy-five". Something new to work on... sorry, i fear i dont understand. if i doubleclic the desktop link with my login name, then i hover the mouse over documents, i get the tooltip '1.46 gb'.
