Default Display aspect changed in Vista Business upgrade

I just upgraded to Vista with my Sony Vaio PCV-1WG and Vista does not
recognize the display properly - its one of those built in monitors.
Therefore the aspect is 4:3 instead of 16:9 - or it is only using the middle
portion of the monitor and not the 2 inches of black on either side of the
monitor. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Hi fatrhythm,

I assume you mean a Sony Vaio PCV-W1/G. According to the website, there is
currently no support for Vista on this model and the only operating system
listed is Windows XP. This doesn't necessarily mean that Vista won't work, it
just means that you might have issues with sound and, as you are having,
video. These issues will only be resolved if and when Vista compatible
drivers are released. I enclose a link to the relevant webpage for your
convenience.

Thanks Dwarf,

After a day of consideration I tried something that amazingly has worked.
First I went to the sis website and downloaded the Vista drivers even though
they were not specific to the sis chip in my computer. I ran the .exe file.
Next I downloaded the sis software for the x86 family of processors and
installed that although it didn't completely install and aborted at the end.
Next I restarted my computer and had some crashes. Then I went into safe
mode and removed the sis from control panel uninstall and received
aproximately 50 little messages I kept ok'ing through - in the end the
uninstaller came up and I completed it although it kinda crashed at the end.
Then I restarted the computer in normal mode. When the computer came up the
actual screen size was very small so I right clicked to personalize and went
to change the resolution - to my pleasent surprise it showed only 1 monitor -
previously it showed 2 - and it had an option for the widescreen mode which
when I applied works perfectly just like it did in XP - but now I'm in Vista
- HURRAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
