I'm setting up my first Vista client on our Windows 2003 standard server
domain. When I shared the c drive, I got the below error, yet Vista did create the share. I should mention that I abbreviated the error below. It actually showed more folders that the "boot" folder, but I thought this would be enough for the example. The domain user account I'm using has full admin rights in AD. Can someone shed some light on this behavior? Is this error normal and something new in the way Vista creates shared folders? ERROR: error applying security an error occurred while applying security information to: c:\boot access is denied |

If you have UAC enabled and are logged in as a normal user (i.e., not
the Administrator account), you have limited rights to write or change permissions on your root folder. If this is the case, then I would say this is normal.... --- Jeffrey Randow Windows Networking MVP 2001-2006 http://www.networkblog.net On Wed, 9 Jan 2008 14:43:55 -0600, "scott" wrote: I'm setting up my first Vista client on our Windows 2003 standard server domain. The Domain Admin user might not have high enough privileges even for vista, try a local login account for authenticating to the shares. -- dmex |
