i have a netgear wireless router, one desktop pc connected to it with a
Ethernet cable (still working fine) and a hp laptop running vista connected thought wireless everything was working fine until one day the wireless on the laptop just stopped working and gave the message connected with limited access i have disconnected from the network and tried to reconnect however all i get is connection unsuccessful then i go to diagnose the problem and have been given some suggestions by windows help i have checked my driver and they are all up to date i have also checked that both ipv4 and ipv6 protocols are ticked in the config for wireless networking, my adapter says working fine and i have checked that my WEP keys are still the same. can anybody suggest anything? i have read many discussion's on the internet just like my own and all i have seen have failed i thought i would give this a try before ringing Microsoft and Intel (as my wireless card is a Intel pro wireless 3945ABG if that helps) if Microsoft does read this please make some suggestions yourself. thanks everyone nathan |

This used to happen to me a lot and I tried mucking about with both the router and my laptop wireless settings. I was about to buy a new router when I hit this forum. I tried a few of the suggestions mentioned. None worked, however, due to all the bother of having to get to know how to change and view all the different settings for your wireless connection I found the problem. The TCP /IPv4 settings had set themselves to use a set IP and DNS address when they should be set to automatically aquire one. I don't know what changed these settings, but having set it back to automatic IP and DNS, the problem has gone. If this is the case for others, I hope this post helps. -- Skiff ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Skiff's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/skiff.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/windows-v...ork/893551.htm http://forums.techarena.in |
