I have 2 HP laptops running Vista an have had no trouble connecting them to
my older Linksys router. Just make sure you have SID broadcasting enabled the first time you try to connect to them. I have also found that updating the firmware in my 2 year old router made a significance difference in signal strength when used with the HP Vista laptops. what model # and hardware rev of the older Linksys router?
do you have the latest firmware? you may have to unbind IPv6 from the wireless NIC On Wed, 16 Jan 2008 08:26:00 -0800, 15 y/o 15 y/o @discussions.microsoft.com wrote: i have a new vista hp laptop and itis not connecting to my older linksys router. i have other wireless computers in my house that work just find. but my laptop the only vista computer in my house will not connect. i can find my router though "Connect to a network" but every time it says failed due to a unknown reson. my father tied to connect to and he is a computer specails. and on websites it said its a problem with vista sso can someone work me around it. -- Barb Bowman MS Windows-MVP http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/e...ts/bowman.mspx http://blogs.digitalmediaphile.com/barb/ |

all routers do IPv4. do a factory reset on the router and see what
happens. you need to post answers to the first questions I asked: what model # and hardware rev of the older Linksys router? do you have the latest firmware? if you don't post this info, I can't help you.
