Default Shared Folder not Appearing

I am on a Vista Business (32 bit OS) machine on a LAN with approx. 30 other
computers, all running XP (I'm the lucky one who gets to figure out all the
problems with Vista!). I created a shared folder, with all rights to
Everyone, and my folder does not appear on any of the other computers and
there shared folders do not appear on mine; however, they can see each
others. I have tried disabling the Windows FireWall, Symantec EndPoint and
just about every other security file I could get my hands on, but to no avail.
Is there a fix to this problem or do I just need to hope and pray for SP1 to
fix it?
I'd really appreciate any help! If you need additional information, please
let me know!

Thanks!

Can you ping each other by IP? If yes, can you ping by name? Or this link
may help.

Vista sharing issuesSolved: Vista sharing - Access denied ... To share a
folder, there are two places, you need to assign permission. sharing and
security tabs. ...

Thanks for the quick response, Robert! Earlier today, we in fact attempted
to ping my IP address from an XP machine, and you could say it worked. The
command line screen turned entirely black with a flashing cursor. Also, and
this may not be related, but when we tried to use remote desktop on an XP
machine to go to my screen, the remote desktop went entirely black on the XP
computer. When I returned to my computer and tried to use the remote desktop
to go to the server (only way I can check my company e-mail) it had also gone
entirely black.
I am getting the feeling that this is an internal Vista compatibility
problem that I may just have to deal with and hope they fix eventually!

I will look at the link posted, but I don't ever get an error message--my
folder just simply doesn't appear on the Network Places.
