I have Vista Ultimate on two machines, have enabled "offline files" and
mapped a network drive to a folder on the second computer. When I right
click on the mapped drive, I do not see the option for "always available
offline." Can anyone
help? The offline files sevice is started.

Look at the share properties on the server machine (particularly the
"caching" option under Advanced Sharing). You can disable or enable
the ability to make this content available offline.

I have same problem on new Vista Ultimate Machine. Machine with Share is in
same workgroup. When I read fine print in control panel for enable of
"offline files"
it says they are enables but not yet active... restart is supposed to make
active but it does not.
The XP (pro) machine has "simple file sharing on" (default). As this is a
workgroup I don't have server options on cashing as mentioned in frist reply.
Offline files works ok to this share with another XP machine.

anybody else have an idea?
