Hello everyone,
Quite a problem here. I noticed my internet [T1, I have a box with a light that flashes when in use] was going nonstop at a fast rate, even when my computer was idle. So I went and checked my network settings. My computer is alone, not on any networks, but "JACQUELINE-PC" and a media version of that is showing up on my network. My network was private and I changed it to public, seeing as Windows Help said that is safest for lone computers. I also added a password to my windows computer account. I tried to turn "file sharing" off, but it said it was controlled by my firewall. I use Nortons Internet Security for firewall and I havent been able to find any option to disable file sharing in it. Can someone please help? Seems like this "JACQUELINE-PC" is accessing my computer at all times, judging from internet activity. |

Are you using a Wireless router?
You don't tell us!!!!!!! Are we supposed to be mind readers!!! If you are, disable the wireless transmitting in the router, and use a Cat5 cable for the internet until you EXPLAIN what your setup! Excuse me; I am NOT being rude!
If you have a mystery computer in your Network, would you mind telling everybody just HOW you are connected to the INTERNET. Widows Vista 32bit home is NOT an answer! You must have a moden, router,, or do you sit in a hotspot all day; i.e airport, coffee shop? Or is that TOO much to ask you? "Imori" wrote: There is no need to be rude Mick. As stated in my original post, it says my firewall (which is Norton Internet
Security) controls that. I've searched all over and cannot find the controls in Norton.
