I have read so many different forums and have not found the answer to my problem. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Every time I click on the desktop to open an application or go to my computer explorer.exe crashes and I get the following: *problem signatu* problem event name: appcrash application name: explorer.exe application version: 6.0.6000.16549 application timestamp: 46d235d0 fault module name: shell32.dll fault module version: 6.0.6000.16513 fault module timestamp: 4681d936 exception code: c0000005 exception offset: 000000000015402b os version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.768.2 locale id: 1033 additional information 1: 5daa additional information 2: 55d0f5f1315e1b50803ff13bbf9a191b additional information 3: 4e8d additional information 4: 7d38412fd536b2efd1a6bd718dcbf45f i've ran norton, windows defender, anti spyware software, and a family safety critical update to the reg. i have had no luck. btw: i have vista home basic x64. the problem started yesterday after running vista with no problems for six month's. no new software installs, except a quickbooks 2007 update. -- AC3 |

Hi,
Explorer crashes such as this are often related to ad/spyware, but not limited to such. It is also possible that an IE plugin/addon is at fault, as the two applications share many processes. I would suggest you might want to run process explorer and see if something spikes when this happens. Are you running an intel board, there is an issue with intel's provided audio drivers that cause explorer.exe to crash. I ran stock Vista "High Definition Audio Device" drivers instead and the problem went away for me. -- Jeff Flowerday |

How do you run this? I have Vista Home Prem so I don't think I am running
