I have a PC (we'll call it the server) with a wireless adapter and a
10/100/1000 NIC. The two NICs are bridged. the 10/100/1000 nic is plugged into a switch along with an HP 2600 network printer. all devices are on the same 192.168.1.0 /24 network. When I ping the printer or the server from a wireless client I get about 5-6 timeouts before I start getting a reply. So anytime I want to print, I first have to ping the printer until I get a reply then I can print. Same goes for the server, if I want to access shared files, I have to ping the bridge interface (192.168.1.2) until I get a reply then all is good. Any idea why this is happening? I thought about adding a static route on the client that tells it to go to the PC for packets sent to the printer but I don't think that will work. Or I just thought - maybe I should add a static ARP entry for the printer and server nics on the client. Any other ideas would be appreciated. Doug MCSE |
