When I originally installed the latest version of TiVoToGo, which allows
programs recorded on Tivo to be tranferred to a PC and played in WMP, I got video but no audio. I downloaded a new audio codec and things worked fine. I recently tried to play a TiVo recording on my PC and now have audio but no video. Along the way I upgraded to WMP 11 (I believe when I bought my Toshiba laptop last May that Vista Home Premium was shipping with WMP 10). I have tried resetting video codecs and other things, to no avail. I am beginning to wonder if there is an incompatibility between the TiVo recordings and WMP 11. I would like to try "downgrading" back to WMP 10 but I can find no instructions on how to uninstall WMP 11. Does anyone know how to uninstall WMP or if I can install WMP 10 over WMP 11? Thanks -- John H |

It was never possible to run WMP10 on Vista, so that's a red herring here. What's the file extension? What video codec do the files use? -- Speaking for myself only. See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info. This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. -- "JohnH" wrote in message ... Not so much a reply as another question. TIVO recordings won't play under WMP 11 in Vista Home premium. Are there any new solutions or ideas as to the following error ? I have no need to upgraded to the TIVO to go Plus edition. |"Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or a required codec might not be installed on your computer" Thanks -- belltownboy |
