I get this aswell but if I load up windows live mail desktop beta again, then
it synchronises with live messenger and seems to be fine. But as soon as I
get another set of messages I have to repeat the process to clear live
messenger again.

When you say "Live Mail" do you mean "Windows Live Mail" (the hotmail
replacement) or do you mean Windows Live Mail Desktop Beta? What I've
noticed is that when I receive a new e-mail in WLMD beta, in the bottom
right-hand corner it will say I have 5 new messages when in reality I only
have 1 (the Inbox displays I only have 1 also). If I receive two new
e-mails, looking in the bottom right-hand corner, it will say I have 10 new
e-mails...whats up with that? It seems to be there is a synchronization
issue with WLMD beta, Windows Live Mail and Windows Live Messenger.

Live mail does not seem to be updating the actual number of emails that
have
been read, once ive read them in Live mail. Live messenger reports more
messages to read, even when Ive read them in live mail
