Using Windows Mail and Vista RC1. When I open a newsgroup WM automatically
displays a post. Sometimes it may be a post that I don't want to view such as a large WMV file that has been broken into 1000kb segments. WM will begin to download one of the segments and I have to click the stop button to stop the download. Is there a way to make WM wait until I highlight a post before automatically opening one for me? |

Hello, do this, click Tools - Options... -, select Read, uncheck Automatically download message when viewing in the Preview Pane. That is all, Chao.

Tried that but it didn't work. Still opens a post without me clicking on
one. Willi@m wrote in message ... Hello, do this, click Tools - Options... -, select Read, uncheck Automatically download message when viewing in the Preview Pane. That is all, Chao. Go to View | Layout and disable the preview pane. You can put a button on
the toolbar for that as well. steve "LD" wrote in message ... Tried that but it didn't work. Still opens a post without me clicking on one. Willi@m wrote in message ... Thanks Steve. That works but for my newsgroups I prefer the preview pane
view. Outlook Express in XP will not open a post until I click on it. I reckon that something has changed in Windows Mail that causes it to automatically open a post. I just toggle it on and off as needed from the toolbar.
