How do I find out my POP3 server name and/or my IMAP server name. I am looking for a job and sometimes Windows asks me this when I try to reply to an email address. I will also write to Compuserve. Thank you.

Deleting current message by Noshorts
When I delete an open an e-mail message the next message is automatically opened and displayed. This is not good as far as security goes. So does any one know how to make windows mail return to INBOX and NOT display the next message? I cannot find this switch anywhere on options.

opening .doc email attachments by N. Nortz
There was a post to this list addressing my problem, but I can't find it again! My Vista Windows email won't open .doc attachments. I had to install Microsoft Office Word 2003 in order to be able to open .doc files in my computer, but it doesn't work for my email unless I go through a convoluted process of copying and pasting to Office Word. Please help! N Nortz

HTML Signatures with .jpeg or .gif images by John Spence
Is it possible to place images in html signature file? If so, how? -- I believe in Karma. That means I can do bad things to people all day long and I assume they deserve it.

Cannot receive mails. by Piesang
I cannot receive mails and only receive spam. If I send a mail to myself then it shows send and is gone but I don`t get it back. If I look on outlook express on my other pc then it is there, so it works but not receiving. Only spam comes in. I removed my virus program and reinstalled vista but the problem stays. It was working but suddenly stopped. I tried all settings but it still won`t...

Port 587 by profkc
I am curious about the change to port 587. After upgrading to Vista SP1, using Windows Mail, I had the same problem as a few on this board, but only with my roadrunner service. I could receive mails. However, I could send e-mails that were very short (read one or two lines), but anything of any length and I got the usual message of server connection unexpectly closed... I turned off my...

windows live mail shutting down by Nellie50
I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop running Vista Home edition. It came with Windows Mail. That worked fine for about 2 months (about 1 1/2 weeks ago). First I couldn't send then couldn't receive/send email. When I searched for help, Microsoft said to download Windows Live Mail. That worked great for about a week. For the past 3 days, when I hit my mail button, WLM comes up, downloads messages...
