Vista stopped to regognize DVD drive by
Monica Pisica
Hi,
I have a laptop with Vista Home edition on and Vista does not recognize the
DVD drive anymore (it did up to a week ago). It even does not assign a letter
to the drive, although the DVD drive itself is up to date. This happened
after some Windows updates that downloaded on my computer. The laptop was
bought new this January.
Any help will be very appreciated.

Auto Play by
Richard
I can't get Auto Play going. When I put in a DVD program, game, or any DVD
which does have an auto play it just does nothing. I went into the Auto Play
setting and check the box and for software and games I put in Install or run
program. Is there something I'm missing in the Vista OS or could it be my
20x LG DVD player?

Windows Image Acquisition Closes by
bobg
HP Desktop, Windows Vista 32 SP1. WIA seems to close (most of the time)
when I go into sleep mode. I use Automatic Updates which has worked great
for the last year....including the SP1 download and install. Is there a
known fix for this? I'm a "user" not a guru so please keep it simple if
possible. Thanks. bobg

Copy Local Profile to new Domain Profile by
Thomas N.[_2_]
Hello all.
Here is my situation.
I had been on a domain "Test.com" on a workstation. The user name that I
used to log in was "Thomas.Nguyen". However, after having to rebuild the
domain and rejoining the workstation, the new user account, also
"Thomas.Nguyen," does not have the settings of the old. I know this would
happen.

Trouble with updating and boot up by
Melnago
Hi, I am hoping that someone has a solution out there for me.
My computer updates regularly, however when the computer restarts to
finish the installation, it is not able to restart. I get a screen that
tells me that it needs to use a startup trouble shooter which then tells
me that I need to use system restore. So I go through all of this to get
the computer going again, then it tries to...

Vista will not boot! by
prodigy-
Ok here's the problem,
My installation of Vista home premium will not boot, not even in safe mode!
Each time I try to boot in safe mode it gets stuck whilst loading the driver
BTHidMgr.sys
The included system recovery is named 'The Tech Guys' And it has not helped.
The 'system repair' option cannot repair the problem and the 'reinstall
windows' option freezes whenever I click it.
I have...

startup repair by
Justin
Can anyone tell me why since installing the latest Vista upgrade friday
night, my laptop wont let me in? I get the F8 page up upon start up, then it
goes onto the startup repair page, cannot complete this section, so then just
restarts and does the whole process again. I have tried to recover to an
earlier date but to no avail. It does it in safe mode too. Any suggestions?
I didn't get...

Startup/Load problems by
tc2244
I have a Dell Inspiron 1525, 160 GB HDD and 2 GB RAM. I'm running Vista Home
Premum.
My computer isn't starting up correctly. It'll either get stuck on the load
screen with the green bars or on the Welcome screen, and will not let me put
my password in, go to black or stay stuck on "Welcome" and not do anything.
I've tried startup repair and system restore. Any suggestions?

Can't Refresh Win Explorer With F5 (or Menu) by
John Ciccone
Copy files or folders to a Win Explorer pane, they're at the bottom of the
list. That's fine. Press F5, nothing happens. i.e. they do not go into
alphabetical order. In fact, menu View Refresh doesn't do it either.

RAW hard drive by
J Lunis
Recently bought a PC with Vista Home Premium. Have a lot of little
questions I may post here if I can't find the answers online. But for
now, my most significant problem.
I have a USB HD that worked flawlessly under XP. But when I plugged it
in to the4 new (Vista) PC it does not appear in Explorer and Disk
Management shows it as 'RAW.' How do I get Vista to detect/read it?

Want to know how bad Vista was when it first shipped? Ask Microsoft by
Adam Albright
Oh they didn't want to, but they were forced in open court.
Earlier this year a federal judge, Marsha Pechman granted class-action
status to a lawsuit alleging that Microsoft unjustly enriched itself
by promoting PCs as "Windows Vista Capable" even when they could only
run a bare-bones version of the operating system, called "Vista Home
Basic." The slogan was emblazoned on PCs during the 2006...

Vista update of 5/30/2008- now have unexpected restart...again by
Briareos
Same as last (two?) updates! My computer accepted a Microsoft update on
5/30/2008 and then began restarting every 15 or so minutes. I rolled it
back. How useless. I am a software developer. I cannot believe they cant
get Vista to to stop rebooting itself through an update! I can accept a
glitch resulting from some obscure compatability or strange driver, but cmon-
I have what came...

USB device connecting and disconnecting by
geoffc
I am running Vista Home Premium SP1. I have 4 users on this PC, and one
of these users has a problem with a USB connected MP3 player. When the
device is plugged in, it is initially recognised, and the files appear
in Explorer, but a few seconds later it disconnects, then reconnects,
and so on ad infinitum. Under the other users, it works perfectly! I
have tried changing the Autoplay options, and...

Win Firewall - Can't be found, yet is running by
Puma
Hi,
hope someone has a solution for this pesky problem.
Am trying to turn OFF Win firewall, yet it's nowhere to be found. (Yes, it
is on and running) except for a shortcut link which also does not show up
(C:\ProgramData\MicrosofWindows\StartMenu\Programs). No folder (hidden
included) exists for it anywhere and it has no icon in the control panel
either.
