Vista SP2 update disappeared! by f1charlie
Yesterday just before switching off I noticed that SP2 was available via Windows Update. As I was going to bed, I thought I would leave it until today to install it. When I go to Windows Update, SP2 is no longer offered, although some other updates were. SP2 hasn't been installed, so where has it gone? Will it be offered again? -- f1charlie

This will drive "andy t" crazy (Windows Speech Recognition) by Mark Conrad[_4_]
Let me tell you folks, you will get nowhere if you think that Windows Speech Recognitions built-in "Help" will actually help you learn how to run the speech app. (WSR is short for Windows Speech Recognition) I gave up, _nothing_ in the Help section about how to make user-created macros, or user-created commands. Knowing how to do that is absolutely necessary if you

Quick launch task bar size and order changing on restart by Bob
When I start my computer my Quick Launch bar shrinks in size to the point where none of my Quick Launch application icons are visible. I unlock the task bar and drag it so my program icons are visible and rearrange the icons to my preference and lock it . When I restart my computer the quick launch bar reverts to the size where my program icons are not visible and they are rearranged again. ...

Wiping D Drive by amadeusmozart
I recently restored my computer back to factory settings with the system recovery discs, and I thought it would wipe my D drive, but it did not. I have saved everything I need on another hard drive and want to wipe this computer completely clean, including the d drive. Any suggestions on how it can be wiped? -- amadeusmozart

Hp Laptop running slow by oxygenitdotcomdotau
We joked about how our team consisted of some of the best IT Brains in the Universe but could not get Vista to run on an HP Pavilion dv2000. We spent over two days on this. One of the guys discovered that the BIOS didn't match the model and after updating the SATA controller driver from the correct model, Vista and all it's associated updates etc ran perfectly. So check your BIOS and make...

Scanning for rootkits by amadeusmozart
My computer is crashing constantly, and I believe it to be related to my Moby Dick of a rootkit. The reason I call it that is that it showed up one time when I was scanning my system with spysweeper, and before I could remove it, it crashed again. I haven't been able to get it to show up again, and I was trying to see what a good suggestion for a free scanner to hunt it down would be. It showed...

Audio: Stereo Mix Recording Option by Mike Elmore
I do production work for an internet radio network, and often have to pull audio from a video clip to incorporate into a promo, sweeper, etc. In XP I would simply set my recording device to "Stereo Mix" or "Mono Mix" and it would record any audio sent tot he speakers. Is there a way to set this in Vista cause I only get two options "Microphone" and "Line Input"

How to burn ISO image in vista? by bazad
I just want a simple tool that can burn ISO image. It does not matter if it is a gui or command line tool. I'd rather use Vista native tool if it exists. I found that Windows 2003 Server resource kit has such a tool, but it requires installation of resource kit and Vista says that this resource kit is not compatible, so I did not install it.
