It is a good thing that I stay on top of the newsgroup here and found the
Download link to RC-1.
I have RC-1 up and running without any issues as yet.
Good work on the Operating System but your Notification System needs some

affecting the status quo.
Could some one please advise on the procedure for this, I am assuming that I
would boot to Vista and the run the set up from the DVD from inside Vista.
Are my assumpions correct, or...

Does the upgrade feature work from Pre-RC1 to RC1? I just did a clean install

Audio cracking and skipping under Vista RC1 x64 by
Reggie Burnett
Just installed RC1 x64 this morning. So far everything except audio seems
to be running nicely. I've seen this before but it seemed to be not as bad
under previous x32 builds. Is anyone else experiencing crackling or
skipping of audio under x64. The audio I am referring to is network audio
played under media player. Either from a media connect box or through
network sharing. Also,...

Differences Between Pre-RC1 and RC1? by
Cyberwolf
I cannot find anything within the release notes that indicates any changes
from Pre-RC1 to RC1 (aside from the build number)
Is anyone aware of any bug fixes/changes that occured? Or are both
essentially the same aside from changing the Build number from 5536 to 5600..
Thanks

I can manage my NAS using IE7 : no problem
BUT here is the strange feature : in the address field of Explorer i enter

Installed RC1 by
William
I did not wait for any email invite to download RC1 (5600), so I downloaded it last night from my XP Pro install on my main computer using Firefox. This morning I burned the DVD and installed it as a dual boot with XP on the D hard drive.
The install was perfect and it took about 30 minutes. I used my Beta 2 key and that worked right.
So far I like the speed and performance of Vista RC1. It is...

I feel so sad- I can not sync my PDA in Vista by
Damon
Though Vista provides a so called Mobile.... Center, I can not sync my HP
ipaq 5550 (PPC 2003). Now, the PDA is function as a USB drive.
What worse is, the Media player 11 says that my device use an old driver!
The worst, Vista does not allow me use Activesync!
I will keep running XP with my Ipaq. :(

upgrade from pre-RC1 to RC1 by
Krzysztof Mazurek
Well,
Upgrade works fine - I just lost transparency in Aero (Intel 950GMA). No
idea how to turn it back on. There is an option in Control Panel "Enable
transparency" but turning it on don't make nay change. Every time I open
"Personalize ... " this option is turned off.
Any additional requirements for RC1?
Best regards,

Windows PE 2.0: a tiny version of Windows for system maintenance by
MICHAEL
http://www.apcstart.com/site/jbannan/2006/08/1082/windows-pe-20-a-tiny-version-of-windows-for-system-maintenance
Few people know it, but when you boot off the Vista install DVD, you're booting into a
different version of Windows altogether: Windows PE 2.0.
It's based on the Vista kernel, but it's extremely compact. It provides read/write access to
NTFS filesystems, a wide range of 32- and...
