Hijacked by 'Best PC health components Control Centre' by
Geoff[_9_]
Damn............ how to get rid off it?
I can do a ctrl+alt+delete and bring up the task manager and kill the
process BUT my desktop has lost the task bar and starting orb. Moving the
mouse top or bottom or to either side does not 'unhide' the toolbar so that
I can access my USB drive with rkill.com (a process to kill this malware) on
it.
Have tried booting into Safe Mode and the viral...

Digital persona personal 4.11 install by
Abrownie
hello, I'm having problems installing Digital persona personal 4.11.
It wouldn't finish installing and now it can't detect the finger
scanner at all.
The thing said this
"You cannot install the DigitalPersona Personal 32-bit package on this
operating system. You must use the 64-bit installation package."
Can anyone give me the link for the 64-bit installation package? thank
you.

is there a way to disable shadow copy but retain restore point function by
@ Windows7 M1
I am reading on some sites about shadow copies and how you have old versions
of each file
I dont want this function because I want the pc to go faster..
how can I disable this without removing the restore point functionality?
In other words I want Vista to behave like XP did, where you had restore
points but not old versions of files..

Why is the TRUTH about general Vista SR so difficult to obtain? by
Mark Conrad[_6_]
Why, why, why, is Speech Recognition so difficult
to get the "correct" skinny on, here and now.
Is it because in general that people are generally so
ignorant of the general subject of SR, as it pertains
to Vista?
We Generals want to know.
Is SR worth a flying **** generally; if not, why.

Create a new restore point by
OldManEd
How does one create a new restore point in both Vista and Win7? When I go
to Accessories--System Tools--Restore all I get is how to restore from a
previous one. That's not what I want. I want to create a restore point.

Sticky Notes by
JerryM \(ID\)
For anyone who used to play with Sticky Notes from Microsoft Tablet PC.
You can still use it on the desktop.
Either type STIKYNOT.EXE on the start-run line,
OR
Create a new shortcut, using STIKYNOT.EXE,
and naming it STICKY NOTES for the name.
Have fun,
Jerry

Terredo Tunneling, etc. by
Larry E
What in the heck is that? I was checking Device Manager yesterday and found
that there was an Exclamation mark in the yellow triangle next to: "Teredo
Tunneling Pseudo-Interface" and it's listed under Network Adapters. I
tried to update drivers, but it kept telling me the one installed were the
best available. What is it and do I need it? It wasn't there before because
I went to the...

Zelda Starvedski
Hello DanS.
You're a fracking cretin, as Massa would say.
Stan Starinski was right, and you Dan are wrong.
First off, loss and hence noise become significant with length.
Yes he is an EE.
Who are you?
An "M.V.P.? MWAHAHAHAHAHA.
Do you know the difference between Butterworth & Chebychev Filters? Or

Vista and CSIDL_COMMON_APPDATA - readonly and _hidden_ directory by
Viv[_2_]
Hi all,
I have an application that uses one configuration file which should be
the same for all users. This conf file should also be editable by any
user.
1) For Win2000 and WinXP it was not a problem to use the
SHGetFolderPath function with CSIDL_COMMON_APPDATA which would then be
smth like: "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data" and
to put there the conf file for my...

Command Prompt by
webster72n
What is the administrator command prompt for 'defrag.exe' in 'cmd'? I am
being asked when trying to open defrag.exe in cmd.
It seems windows defrag was hijacked by DiskeeperLite, a downloaded program
I thought was free, but turned out to be a mistake. When I want to run
defrag now, I am asked to reinstall it via add or remove programs, which is
not available in my Vista Home Premium, SP2, 32...

Can extra keyboard layouts be deleted/uninstalled? by

::Guess I am a minimalist at heart and see no need for 100 or more
keyboard layouts. I am all in favor of being multilingual; but I am
never going to have to type in more than a several languages/alphabets
no matter how long I live. Is there a method for deleting the layouts
for those languages in which I will never communicate? I have found them

disable "smart" select by
Zarkas
This function is just driving me nuts, so is there any way to disable
the smartselect/highlight stuff like when you click on some text hold
down the left mousebutton and drag the mouse to mark a potion of the
text. Instead of just highlighting it character by character it auto
marks who words and stuff instead, really annoying.

Windows Back-Up(centre) stopped automatic BU by
Harry[_9_]
Since 2 weeks it has stopped.
In the BU-centre Wizard at "What drives you want in the back-up
record?" is written:
Stations

Unknown (E:) (Missing) - 0 bytes - 0 bytes
They are unchecked and greyed-out (uncheck able)
The C: is on a SSD on SATA 1 and the E: drive is on an old-fashioned
