Vista won't recognize HDD by
Ryetronics
I have a dual boot configuration of XP and Vista, with each OS on
their own respective HDD's. I also have a 3rd HDD that has all of my
media documents on it. Through XP, that media drive is linked to . But when I try to access that drive in Vista, it is
listed as Offline. When I right-click on it in Computer Management,
my only options are Convert to Basic, Properties and Help.
Obviously I...

Hard disk no longer available in XP after installing Vista by
Michael Feld
Hello all,
I just installed Vista on my machine on a new partition, so that I now have
a dual boot configuration for XP/Vista. This basically works.
Now I have 3 physical hard disks, each with more partitions. The first one,
which is a "basic" disk on which the XP and Vista partitions are, works well
on bot OSes. However, the other two, which are "dynamic" disks, don't seem to
work in XP...

Dell Laptop Video by
Michael Mastro
Ok, I have a Dell Inspiron E1505. Prior to my upgrade to Vista the laptop
was showing 256MB of video RAM from the AT1 x1400 card that is part of the
laptop. After I upgraded to Vista Ultimate, this dropped to 128 MB and
programs that were requiring the 256 stopped running on me. I tried
installing Dell's drivers Vista drivers for the laptop, but they kept
crashing the computer as soon as...

Vista freeze with Core 2 Extreme QX6700 by
Anders
Hi! My system freezes/locks up every time i run Microsoft Windows Vista
Ultimate 32-bit fullversion, sometimes i can run vista for about 1-3 minutes
before it locks/freezez up and i have to press the reset button.
The system will freeze even if I startup Vista and dont do anything, so its
no particular program or event that causes the freeze, just random.
If run Vista in SAFE MODE its stabile...

Vista hardware initialization problems by
dot
I am having spuratic problems with device drivers loading and hardware
initializing properly under Vista.
1 About 1 out of ever 4 times I boot the system, Vista does not detect
the audio hardware on my motherboard and load the device drivers for
it. If I reboot the system, it loads up and works fine though.
2 For months the DVD burner in my system was working fine, but in the

IPOD Shuffle (1st Gen) on Vista Ultimate RTM by
Steve
When I plug the shuffle into the powered USB dock port, itunes recognizes it
and does what it is supposed to do, but the Vista OS goes totally whacko in
the background. It recognizes the shuffle and creates an entry in device
manager, then drops it, and reinstalls it, over and over and over again.
device manager is constantly refreshing making it impossible to use.
The same effect happens...

voicemodem for vista64? by
F r e e
i don't care if its external or internal, if it just exists!
USrobotics messagemodem has 64 bit drivers, but it looks as if you need
their 'controller software' to actually listen to the answering function
messages and its not compatible with vista 64!
so i'm pretty lost, even after searching countless websites!
Anybody knows about a serial/usb/pci voice modem or similar?

wireless pci card for vista 64-bit? by
nycman
Has anyone found a PCI card that works with 64-bit Vista? I've tried several
Linksys cards including the new 300N card ... it works with 32-bit but not
64. The WUSB54GS doesn't, either. (Linksys has been pretty hostile to
64-bit Windows for a couple of years.)
I haven't found any brand that explicitly says it works with 64-bit. What
are OEMs using? Thanks.
