RC-1 - SCSI Support by
John Falconer
Does anyone know of (by brand and model) any supported SCSI PCI cards known
to work with Vista RC-1?
I'm tired of waiting for support for my Adaptec 2940 cards.

RC1 & SoundMax -- funky results (USUALLY no sound) by
Warning: this has been cross-posted in the music_pictures_video group, too
"clean" install (let old WinXP2 go to Windows.old, no dual boot) on a "white
box" which had WinXP previously (overall performance evaluation of the
system is a pedestrian 2.5) -- used to have audio, no problem -- now
generally, no audio -- very funky -- Device Manager reports no problems or
conflicts (SoundMax...

RC1 ATI X800XT Secondary Update Eats Vista by
Joshua
CAUTION -- If you have an OEM version of the ATI X800 XT video card (ei: from
Dell) I would strongly suggest that you DO NOT use the ATI drivers or the
Windows update secondary drivers....when I did, BSD occurs on start up.

I have build 5600 (RC1) with RC1 update installed on my machine and am having
trouble using any video drivers besides the windows VGA drivers.
The card is a PCI-E 6800XT w/ 128mb of ram sourced from XFX. The motherboard
is an MSI SLI-FI board with SLI disabled via hardware and only one PCI-E card
in PCI-E slot 0. The BIOS is the latest edition and the machine has 1GB of

RC1 Install shows floppy drive as B: by
KeithG1
After installing RC1, my floppy drive shows up as drive letter B:
Could this be a motherboard/BIOS issue or is it Vista?
If anyone else has experienced this issue with Vista builds, please let me
know what I should do to correct the drive letter so it shows up as A:
Thanks,
KeithG1

RC1 keeps lossing my HD's by
Joshua
I have two SATA hard drives, not in a raid format; both Western Digitals a
160 and a 400. RC1 is installed on the 160 one; but RC1 keeps loosing the
400GB one. I have to scan for hardware changes with the device manager to get
them back or reboot. This DID not happen in Beta 2 nor does it happen with
Win XP Pro....any thoughts???

RC1 missing SATA Controller by
Joshua
Beta 2 didn't miss it, Win XP surely doesn't miss it, so why the heck is RC1
missing it??? RC1 fails to install the Intel 82801FR SATA AHCI Controller
which came with my Dell 8400 PC. Instead I get the Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial
ATA Controller...and this one keeps loosing my hard drives. At random, my
400GB drive will just vanish. When I try to install the Intel drivers, RC1
doesn't like it;...

RC1 Network Adapter Buffers Out of Range Error by
pennhaven
Reviewing the system event log shows two errors reported for my Marvell
Yukon ethernet controller at startup. "Receive buffers out of range."
and "Transmit buffers out of range."
My motherboard has two Marvell Yukon gigabit controllers. What I don't
know is which adapter the error messages refer to and what the
appropriate range should be. One adapter is a PCI and the other PCI-E.

RC1 reinstalls drivers after first reboot (Dell Inspiron 9300) by
Dirk Steiger
Hi everyone!
I'm having trouble with RC1 (5600) of Vista. I'm running the OS on a Dell
Inspiron 9300 (Pentium M 1,73 Ghz, 2 GB RAM, Nvidia Geforce 6800 Go 256 MB).
After the installation process everything works fine - the graphics, the
WLAN. When I connect to my home WLAN the first time, Vista updates
automatically with new drivers for the Intel 2200B/G-WLAN-Hardware and the
Sigmatel...

1. Somewhat funny but trying to make a copy of the RC1 DVD I had burned

friends computer to the Beta also... so he gets his own DVD in case...

As with the Beta 2, I can't get bluetooth to setup devices. The hardware is
detected and installed, but I am supposed to add bt-connected devices through
