dma5949
I have two SATA Liteon DVD drives, E: DVDRW LH-20A1L and F: DVD
SHD-16S1S. Starting yesterday,Drive E: disappeared from My Computer and
is not displayed in Device Manager, BIOS shows it's there. Yesterday
Vista started taking longer to load too, the green loading bar freezes
for about a minute. I tried running Start Up Repair from Vista Disc,
repair didn't fing anything so I used Restore Point....

Explorer stops responding when CD inserted. by
stewartl
I have a DVD+RW to which I was transferring pictures.
No problem although it did have a problem with a couple of the files
The disc was about 75% full (of 4.7G).
Next time I put the disc in I got a loud whirring and the computer
showed
Explorer had stopped responding.
That all I get - totaly unable to access the disc.
Similar discs of the same type no probs?

Need access to Driver acceleration by
RedGuy
Under Display Settings Advanced Setting (tab) Troubleshoot it should
allow you to adjust your settings. My drivers for my graphics card and mother
board are up to date, but I still cant get access. It says "Your current
display driver does not allow changes to be made to hardware acceleration
settings." Please someone tell me how to adjust this so I can change my
acceleration settings.

Speaker Help by
skulldragon3200
Hello everybody,
I have a laptop with Vista, and I want to use some of my speakers that I have for my computer. It is a set of 3 speakers and they are plug in with only 1 jack. The only problem that I am having is that the jack is a mono jack. I used to use these speakers with XP and in XP there was a way to let you chose whether the sound output was broadcast in mono or stereo.
Is there a way...

Automatically Duplicate 2 Internal Drives by
Don Cohen[_2_]
Hi,
I am about to purchase a new Dell Vista 64-bit system. I originally
intended to have a pair of 500gb to 640gb hard drives in a Raid 1
configuration, so I would have automatic duplication of both OS and data
files. If one drive failed, I could just swap in the other, and be good to
go.
The particular system I'm looking at doesn't offer a Raid 1 configuration,
only Raid 0. The system...

Kensington Expert Trackball by
ute
Hello,
Because the Microsoft Trackball Explorer
is no longer available, I've bought a Kensington Expert Trackball.
Without using a special driver it works fine under Vista,
but I would like to reverse the behavior of the wheel/ring.
I'm used to the Trackball Explorer, where the page scrolls
down when rolling the wheel down.
How can I reverse the behavior?
Maybe change an entry in the...

chkdsk hangs on stage 5 @ 10% by
InTheRed
I run chkdsk a few times a week, usually overnight or when I'm going to
be out of the house for quite a while. I figure it really does no harm
and is a good form of system maintenance that can be done while the
computer is out of use.
The other day I woke up and the system had a blank screen (monitor
snoozed). When I moved the mouse, the monitor didn't wake up. I had to
reset the PC and skip...

Flash Memory Card Reader - 16 GB SD Card - Won't Read by
Don
Hi:
I have a Ativa brand (Office Depot store brand) SD/SDHC card reader. On my
home computer, which is a HP dv9925nr 4GB RAM running Windows Vista Home
Premium 64-bit, my card reader causes my machine to run very slowly when I
insert a Patriot memory 16 GB SDHC card in it. It runs up to 8 GB cards OK.
The computer does eventually recognize it but it runs too slowly for me to
open files. ...

Slow DVD writer access by
Werner
Hi All
I have been using Vista for about a year now and have managed to sort
out most of the kinks in my system, but one eludes me. I have a
Sony/Optiarc DVD writer (SATA). It takes absolute ages to access the
content on a DVD. For example I can wait for over two minutes for a DVD
movie to be accessible (from the time I close the drive). Any ideas
why?
