Drivers for Game controller not loading by
Dukmiester2
I posted another question about this earlier, but I think my choice of
wording may have scared people off.
Anyhow, I have an older Gravis Eliminator Aftershock game controller that
has software which allows it to act like a Mouse, Keyboard, a Direct X game
controller or any combination of the above.
It works great in XP Pro, but i can't get the drivers to load properly in
Vista RC1.

Default Cd-rom drive by
Tony
When I am using a emulation device such as Alcohol 120% to install and run
software windows overrides the default drive letter for the cdrom. The
software will always look to my "real" cd-rom drive and not the drive it was
installed on. I have tryed switching the drive letters around and the
software still points to the the real cdrom drive letter. Is there a setting
to restrict windows from...

nvidia 6600 working but not recognized by
TomJ
This one has me completely stumped. A clean install of RC1. Upon loading,
it lets me set the correct default resolution for my LCD monitor (1280x1024,
at 32-bit color). Everything (except Aero) displays correctly. But my
nvidia 6600 AGP card, which is driving the display, is nowhere recognized.
There is no "Display Adaptor" listed in Device Manager. When I access
"Display Settings," I...

Soundblaster Live! + Vista = NO SOUND by
Gustavo
My Soundblaster Live! card works with XP but when I boot thru Vista, it says
NO AUDIO DEVICE IS INSTALLED and I get no sound. A "Multimedia Audio
Controller" is detected by Vista however the driver installation programs
(both Vista's and Creative's) do not recognize it as Soundblaster Live! So
they never manage to install the drivers. Thx for trying to help.

I have a network adapter in ULi1573 sorthbridge.
Now, my Windows vista can drive my network adapter but there always a "!" in
the front of the network connection icon.
The time when I used windows xp, if I have set a fixed IP address ,the
network connection will be all right. but in windows vista, whatever I set
the address of IPv4, and disable the IPv6, the connection is always wrong.

DVD Drive not recognized correctly by Vista by
Sponsonhead
I recently upgraded to Vista RC1 from XP MCE on my laptop. My laptop's
internal CD/DVD-RW drive is a NEC 6500-A drive. However, since the upgrade,
Vista now identifies my DVD burner drive as a "__EDD-WN-50-ATA Device" and
it doesn't seem to read any DVDs, CDs, burned disks or anything. I tried
uninstalling it in the device manager and let Vista re-discover it; same
issue.
Anyone have any...

Laptop Sound card + Vista - NO SPEAKERS!! + NO SOUND by
FriarTuck91
I am using a laptop with a Realtek sound card, the devices show that the
sound card is working but no speakers are plugged in. The system has not
added the built in speakers or gives me an option to use them. If I use a USB
headset then the sound works ok.
Has anybody found a solution for this or know what the problem is?

LPT Dongle by
bugsy36
Windows XP used a different HAL, that rendered many hardware security dongles
useless. Our dongle, installed on LPT1, never had any issues, even with
XP/sp2. vista renders our dongle useless, thus the software is useless
(company no longer makes this package). Compatability mode does not remedy
the situation.
Has anybody seen this? Anybody have any ideas?
