Capriman
Please can someone help with this????????
I'm having the same problem, however, Device manager will not even find them!!
They were working perfect in RC1 until about a week ago, then they just
disappeared?? I even thought about going back to XP, but cant find any means
of uninstalling RC1 and with no drives, cant just re-install over the top.
There is no way I'm going down the Daemon tools/...

Laptop display problem by
Captain C
Hi folks,
I've got an Sony VGN-BX197XP laptop that I've upgraded to Windows Vista
Ultimate. Since then I've encountered some strange display-related issues:
1) I could only boot into Aero about 50% of the time. The rest of the time I
forced onto the Standard theme with no Aero option. Since installing Vista
SP1 I can't get Aero at all.
2) When not running in Aero mode I can't get the...

Tried eSATA drive in another Vista system, acts same way by
Captain Norm
I had a chance to connect this same eSATA drive to another Premium Vista
system. It acts the same way: Vista doesn't see it unless the bios saw it
upon boot.
Besides for Will, has anyone tried bringing an eSATA drive online after
Vista is booted? As I mentioned, XP Pro handled it perfectly.
Thanks,
Norm

Space shown as used on hard drive disagrees greatly with folders in use by
Captain Norm
Running Vista Premium Home on a 500 GB hard drive shows 80 GB used in
properties pie chart. I configured win explorer to not hide system files,
actually see hidden & system files in directories.
If I get properties of the root & all folders, their sum is about 18 GB.
How can I account for the 4X overhead shown in the pie chart? Why does the
sum of the folders disagree so much with the pie...

Does Vista partition an IDE ATA/133 HD differently than previously? by
Captain Roberts
Ok, I just partitioned my second HD with Vista x86 into 3 Primary partitions. Now, I get errors with partition programs saying the sizes are incorrect. Before I "Fix" these errors, has something changed in the way Vista allocates space with the partition tables on drives?

RAM associated blue-screen on boot. by
CaptainJeff
Hello all.
Having a little trouble that I hope you can help with. The problem is that
Vista bluescreens with an "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" Stop error code 0x0000000A.
The problem is definitely something to do with the RAM, though it is not a
faulty board. The system boots successfully with three out of the four 1GB
RAM boards installed, though inserting any fourth RAM board causes the above...

Problem with eSATA hard drive by
CaptNorm
I've been running XP Pro for years, 3 SATA hard drives in the case & 1
external SATA drive (FAT32). With XP, I could turn on the eSATA drive
(always connected) anytime & it is automatically detected.
With Vista Ultimate, if the eSATA drive was OFF at boot time, turning it on,
once fully booted, does not detect the 4th drive. Disk Management (local)
doesn't see the 4th drive either. If I turn...

Registry Editor by
cardrey
How many of you think that we should have to go through the registry editor
process every time we need to use our CD/DVD drives? I'm having to do it
every 2 or 3 days. I dream of the days when I was using XP and autorun would
actually work on my computer and I could actually burn and read CD's without
jumping through all these hoops.
I am a very dissatisfied with my new computer, and I...

Vista HP64 doesn't find sound or TV cards by

I have a clean install of Vista Home Premium 64bit version that doesn't seem
to recognize anything in my PCI slots. I'm trying to install a Soundblaster
x-fi extreme, and a theatre 550 pro tv card. For the tv card, after install
of downloaded drivers for Vista 64, I get no further than media center
stating no tv device detected. For the sound card... under manage audia
devices, no audio...

USB Mass Storage Device Driver by
Cari \(MS-MVP\)
If the V3 supports bluetooth, it's definitely the way to go. My V551
doesn't need any extra software, I just bluetooth to and from... just like
it's a wireless external drive. All you'd need is a cheap ($14 or so)
dongle.

unable to burn MP3 discs on Windows Media Playr by
carkids
I Have Windows Vista, And I have not found a way to burn Cd's to MP3 format.
I CAN burn standard format, however. I have ripped CD's to MP3 format, so I
should think that when I burn a disc that was ripped to MP3 format it would
burn it to disc in the same format, but it doesn't. Can anyone tell me what
I'm doing wrong?

Unable to burn MP3 disc on windows media player by
carkids
Hi Puppy Breath,
You are right, I need to learn basic skills in windows. I just don't know
where to aquire them!! I tried to leave the media player out of the picture
and went into my music files. But when I tried to drag them into explorer,
the computer went right into the media player, and burned a standard disc!!
Windows Vista sucks!!
Maybe I wasn't in explorer, I don't know!!

Firewire hard drive PROBLEMS! by
Carl
I am running Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 and I have this little issue...
I keep all the "My Documents" type stuff in my external Firewire/USB hard
drive, and ever since I've relied on this drive exclusively for my sole
source of all this data, I've been saddled with problems.
The drive works FINE under Windows XP on this same exact configuration
computer I'm using now, using both USB and...

Aero glass by
Carl
Yesterday I installed the Pre- RC 1 on my computer, and after the
instalation, the 'Aero Glass' was enabled. But when I got to my Performance
Rating (wich was 2.3) and clicked 'Update my Rating', the Aero-feature
disabled, and my rating didn't change at all? What happened? Can this be
enabled again? (By the way: when I tryed to get in the 'Visual Appearence'
menu, it was also disabled, I...
