NVTL Phoenix MFC Application failure by
XiUser
OS: Vista Ultimate
Hardwa Dell Latitude D620
I get this message ocassionally after I log on. Haven't found any reference
on Microsoft web site to this application. No Microsoft solution yet - after
3 months of use. MFC has something to do with time zones and daylight saving.
Anybody have an idea what is happening here?

Proper shutdown & sleep method with e-sata drive by
xiowan
Hi all:
This is my first experience with an external hard drive. I am not sure
the proper procedure to follow when I put the pc into sleep and when I want
to shutdown the pc. Do I just hit sleep, then after the pc sleeps switch off
the e-sata drive? When I shut down the pc do I shutdown first then turn off
the e-sata drive? I am using Vista Ultimate O.S. and the pc has four 500 GB...

SP1 with 8 GBs DDR2 667Mhz problem by
xiowan
Hello all:
I had 4 2GB sticks of 667 Mhz RAM left over from upgrading a couple of
pcs to 800 Mhz RAM so I pulled out the 3 GB 800 Mhz RAM from my Vista
Ultimate x64 PC and put in the 8 GBs of 667 Mhz RAM. It seems to work ok
after a couple of re-boots but.......it is quite a bit slower to boot up.
With 3 GBs of 800 Mhz it was taking about 90 seconds to 2 mins. With 8 GBs
of 667 Mhz it...

Broadcast HD channels over cable by
xiowan
Hi All:
I currently receive local broadcast HD channels thru a comcast set top
box on my tvs.
I recently read the following on the comcast site:
"If I have a digital-cable-ready HDTV set, do I need a CableCARD or
special HD set-top box to view HD programming?
Digital-cable-ready HDTV sets that are now available have built-in HD
capability so no special set-top box is required to...

Windows Logo Key gets sticked by
Xim
Hello all,
Since I got my PC upgraded from Windows 2000 to Vista Enterprise, I have had
a problem with the Windows Logo key occasionally become a "sticky key". I
can't put a finger on any sequence that causes the problem, but I finally
found out that I can get the normal keys back by pressing one time at the
logo key. In the set-up I have disabled "sticky keys", so this should not be
the...

Hi,
I was told by Dell sales that Vista Business does not support current

Does anyone use fingerprint reader (any brands on any systems) with Vista?
Thanks in advance.

NVIDIA GeForce 6600 Driver by
XeroMan
Following my initial setup of Vista an optional video driver appeared in the
automatic update. I installed it and upon restart my computer would not make
it past POST. I tried booting from the Vista disc, then the system repair and
finally the system restore. Nothing worked. I had to do a fresh install of
everything.
Is this normal? I want to update the video drivers obviously, but at the...

Problems with PCMCIA network card and the dreaded Code 10 error by
Xenor
All,
I have a home built Vista Ultimate machine which I am attempting to setup
in a "remote" location in my house with wireless. The plan is to utilize a
Linksys Draft N PCMCIA card (Model WPC4400N) in a Rosewill PCMCIA to PCI card
installed in my machine. I have already tested the WPC4400N in my laptop and
it works fine. The Rosewill PCMCIA to PCI card also appears to install
without...

USB mouse via PS2 KVM works when 2nd USM mouse plugged in by
xenon2000
Odd behaviour. IOGear PS2 KVM 2-port built in cables.
USB MS optical wheel mouse using its included USB-PS2 adapter.
With Vista x32 Business with SP1, I have no issues. The setup works as
expected.
But with Vista x64 Ultimate with SP1, the mouse via the KVM mouse only
works if I have a 2nd USB mouse plugged directly into the PC while Vista
boots up. After it's booted, I can unplug the extra...

Event 19, Corrected Machine Check by
Xenon
I have the Corrected Machine Check Warning logged in the Eventviewer. What
does the warning mean? I also have numerous disk errors popping up in the
Eventviewer, logged as "Event 7, The device, \Device\Harddisk0\DR0, has a bad
block". Chkdsk /r finds bad sectors, but new errors keep popping up in the
eventviewer afterwards. Could these errors be related? I am inclined to think
it's a...

Sony Digital 8 dcr trv255e by
xdarkfayx
Well, for some very odd and quite frankly stupid reason, Vista will not
install the drivers for my sony dcr trv255e camera (...why allow the drivers
to run on XP, then disallow them on Vista, itn't that a step backwards?)
Anyway...does anyone know how to get around this, or know of any drivers
(perhaps for a newer sony cam) that might work? 'cos im pretty desperate to
get my final film...
