Missing Operating System by TheRealRandizzl
Hello, I can imagine this has been asked before, and if there is a thread about this, please link me to it and I'll waste no more time. I have a custom built PC that has worked great for me for a while. I run a legitimate copy (do I even need to state that?) of Vista 64bit Home Premium. Recently my system encountered a lock up and I had to hard reboot.

Monitor Out of Range problem for Vista Upgrade by drjahkk
I'm having trouble with switching the resolution of my monitor on my newly pgraded Windows Vista ultimate 32b os. I recently upgraded from windows XP and I think I might be missing drivers. I have a Generic PnP Monitor and a Standard VGA Graphics adapter. Every time I try to change the resolution to 1280 x 1024 , my monitor reads "Out of Range". What's the problem and what should I do?

POST beep - slow ? by Wonderman
I use a Sony desktop Pentium D now 3.5 years old. I really like it as its very very quiet. Recently, during the prep of a new hard drive that requires a lot of cold starts using the on / off switch, an issue came up. After hitting the switch the machine powers up but doesn't get to the POST beep. It may take 4 / 5 attempts before I get a beep. Other than that the machine is completely...

XPost: Dual monitor problem intel 82852/82855 chipset/video card by Linus Schroeder
Hi NG, I use a Dell Latitude D400 notebook with the mentioned chipset. Basically Vista RC1 and Final are running (without Aero of course). In the display settings I check "Extend the desktop onto this monitor" and "This is my main monitor" for the second (external) monitor. After applying this setting only the internal monitor is running. If I try "Extend the desktop onto this monitor" only it...

How do you format a demagnetized floppy in Vista? by spamme0[_2_]
I bulk-erased, degaussed a batch of floppies to get rid of all the junk between tracks. I stick it in my Vista Ultimate SP1 machine and try do do a full format. Vista comes back immediately with, "windows was unable to complete the format." Stick it in my XP machine and it formats fine. Put the formatted diskette back in the Vista machine and it now formats fine.

bought video card in hardware compatibility list but does not support aero?! by james
I tried to buy an AGP video card so I can get aero, so I bought something cheap that is in the vista compatibility hardware list (evga nvidia geforce fx 5700 ultra 128M) After I installed the card, I found that aero is not supported using the built-in vista driver. If I use the nvidia driver, the text in the vista hold 'em game flashes continuously. Still no aero. Where can I find a list of...

Disk Read Error: Press Ctrl Alt Del to Restart by InfernoX
I get that message ( in the title) when trying to boot windows. This happened to me earlier today and I used system restore to get back to the desktop, but after about 5 minutes the OS started lagging out and I restarted, and upon restart I got the error again. I'm trying system restore again and I'm gonna try to run chkdsk, but I wonder if anyone else has any ideas as to how I could fix this?...
