My old laptop came with home premium loaded and I upgraded to Vista

one. Upon trying to upgrade once more I get an error message as follows:
"setup cannot run on this version of the operating system. To install windows
please try booting from the install media". My new laptop came loaded with a

I have been trying to install Vista 64 on a Tyan K8SH/Opteron with 4GB ram,
Fujitsu SCSI drive/LSIU320 controller. XPsp3 has been on the box previously

was originally downloaded from TechNet (I have used this DVD for several
other test installs without any problems).
I keep getting the problem with the install at the...

Blue screen and error messages trying to install vista 64 bit by
jack56
I just build a new system a few days ago with XP home for the OS. The
system is purring. I’ve been reading good things about Vista Ultimate
64bit and like the idea that I could use all 4GB of ram. Then I bought a
copy of Vista Ultimate 64bit. At first all seems to go ok during
installation, but in the last step, finishing installation just before
the first Vista session... I get a BSOD blue...

Vista Won't POST or Boot After BIOS Mod by
art1
Vista 32 is installed on my year-old homebuilt computer (Gigabyte
P35T-DQ6 m/b, Award BIOS V6.00PG, Intel E6750 cpu). It's been working
just great. At the end of a normal computing session, I entered the
BIOS to make a small change. When I attempted to restart, the POST
stalled after running the memory check.
In an attempt to correct the problem, I reentered the BIOS and removed
the several...

No "Pin to Start Menu" by
azwiley1
Hello all, need a little help, I am running Vista at work now (from XP)
and some of the apps I use daily do not have a Pin to start menu option.
I am using the default (not the Classic) start menu.
Is there any way to hack the registry or anything to allow me to pin
them?
Thanks for all the help.

How to Disable DHCP When Deploying Vista/Server 2008 Using Sysprep and Unattend.xml by
dln
Hello all,
I've run into a problem when trying to deploy either a Vista or Server 2008
syspreped image in conjunction with an Unattend.xml file. My problem is
this - the install, from start to finish, is supposed to be an unattended,
build-to-plan image. Part of the install involves assigning a static IP
address. Although I've been able to configure a static IP for the image, I
can't...

Best way to keep my data while I re-install by
uber_unit
Hey folks. I am looking to do a complete reformat and re-install of
Vista x32 on my Inspiron 1721 lappy. I have around 60Gb of stuff I
would like to keep, but I'd rather an alternative method of keeping it
instead of shoving it all on to DVDs. I don't have an external HDD so I
was wondering whether I can create a partition and whack it on there,
then format and re-install on to C:\. Also, I...

Install Vista FROM HDD instead of DVD? by
Mr D
Hi
I wish to install Vista from fresh (Not an Upgrade)
I know that XP is able to be installed from a HDD by formatting the HDD as
FAT32, copy the I386 folder to it and install by running winnt.
Is it possible to do the same for installing Vista from a Formatted Fat32
HDD?
