Boot Issue by
yedranedra
I have a really odd issue, if I restart my PC I get past post and when
the loading Vista scroll should start I get a black screen, if I restart
I get a failure to start and if I choose start normally every thing
works fine
I tried a Vista repair to no avail, and its annoying and silly that the
only way I can boot is to fail to boot first.
I am running Vista Ultimate x64/8 GB Ram/8800 GTS/500...

Media Edition Pre-installed. When Vista became avaialable, I upgraded to
VISTA Ultimate Edition Upgrade.
The laptop gave acceptable performance and I was satisfied.
I recently built a high powered desktop machine and installed XP Professional.
I would like to go back to Media Edition on the Laptop and move Vista...

david90531@gmail.com
I updated and installed the Vista Service Pack 1 completely and
successfully last night, and as it reboots, it goes to a black screen
with something that looks like a file and registry data check, around
3 minutes it stops at this registry and won`t go through, this is what
the screen says:
! ! 0xc0000034 ! ! 60442/61646 (\Registry\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\classes

The screen keeps flashing...

recovery dvd error by
spaceid
I had a thread on this forum some weeks ago about my computer and
constant bsods which I attributed to Norton since they started after I
installed that software. This is a link to that post:
http://www.vistax64.com/general-discussion/178649-page-fault-nonpaged-area-other-bsod.html#post826249
Since then I have uninstalled Norton and still have the bluescreens.
I've tried various things...

problem printing by
charles cashion
Running vista home premium and office 2007.
When I open a "Microsoft Word" document
and select fileprint,
a window opens with the title bar "Print".
When I open a publisher document and select fileprint,
I also get a window with title bar "Print".
In both cases, my preferred printer is a
"Xerox Document Centre 470 PS"
BUT
Those two "Print" windows are not the same.

Unable to install SP1 by
JW[_4_]
My effort to install Vista Service Pack 1 has left my machine totally
unusable. I hope Bill Gates rots in hell for this complete and utter
failure. Sell Microsoft stock short. The company is a mess. It puts out
crap for software.
Bottom line on my experience. SP1 downloaded OK. In installation it made
it through the shut down. However, upon bootup, it appears to be stuck in
an...

Dual Boot between XP and Vista by
Key Bored
I bought a new hard drive and Vista Ultimate 64-bit (full version). After
doing a clean install of Vista, I found that several of my older programs
are not compatible with and won't install on Vista. I don't want to spend
$400 or more on upgrading the software.
I'd like to keep both XP and Vista on my computer but I'm not sure how to do
this. Should I partition the new drive while...

dale.scott.bolton@gmail.com
This probably isn't the place for this, but usenet is my only choice.
CNET has a review process, but you must create an account, and right
now it isn't working. I just supplied an email address (so they can
sell it to spammers) for the account creation and the process failed
(site error). CNET doesn't want to know.
I downloaded AVG antivirus and the installer failed. As the the
installation is...

Changing Monitor by
Sam Hobbs
How do I change the monitor? Currently it is set as Generic PNP Monitor or
something like that. I have an old CRT Monitor that I assume is not PNP. In
XP and before, I was able to specify what the monitor is so Windows would
know what the monitor is capable of. How do I do that in Vista?

Vista installation reboots after "Windows is loading files..." by
decimatrix@live.com
I recently built my first computer (had a few headaches involving power
supply and such, but got those fixed), and have been trying to install
Windows Vista x64 for the last day. At first, the CD/DVD wasn't booting
the cd correctly and caused "insert proper media" or something, but I
changed CD drives and it now works. The problem is, the installer will
not get past the grey bar with "Windows is...

Shortcuts no longer work after Vista SP 1 update by
Robert
Just updated my wife's computer. Don't know why this hadn't happened before
- all updates are set for automatic. The problem now is that none of her
keyboard shortcuts to open programs work. And the icons pinned to the start
menu say the programs don't exist. They do, and I've repinned them from
Explorer, but I can no longer set ctl+alt+W for word, etc. What happened and
how can I fix...
