Can I go back to XP? by
Instance
Hi, I bought a PC from Dell about six months ago, a Dimension 9200C with
Vista Home Edition. Now, I was hoping to go back to XP but one of my
friends says it probally wouldn't work due it coming already with Vista.
I read something how it depends, well I was hoping if anyknew how I
could find out if this would work? Do I just use my old XP disk and see
what happens, if it fails reinstall Vista?...

I keep getting boot mgr missing... by
tlc_13200@hotmail.com
Ok,
Here's the scenario, I sold my customer a notebook, an ACER with VISTA HOME
BASIC and she asked me to rollback it from VISTA to XP... we tried it and had
issues of drivers not working, like wireless adapter and modems.
So, we'd decided to roll it up back to VISTA HOME BASIC... and this error
keeps coming up. We even ordered the recovery CD's and nothing seems to work.
So, here's what I...

Auto update hasn't installed SP1 by
Ron O'Brien
I've had Vista ultimate 64bit installed on a new built PC for just over a
week, auto up-dates set to update at noon each day. Just checked to discover
SP1 is not installed. When I go to Windows update I am told there are 34
updates available but they are all different languages - no SP1 mentioned.
How can I force it?

Vista x64 Boot Manager Missing After Installation by
oceanmaster66
I installed XP Pro on one hard drive. I then inserted the Vista disk in the
DVD drive and booted into the Vista installation and installed it on a second
hard drive. Installation went smoothly (or so I thought) except that after a
few reboots I noticed that the Windows Boot Manager never appeared giving me
the choice to choose Vista or a previous operationg system.
If I take the Vista...

"Repair your computer" option fails by
shantd
I realize the resident experts must be sick to death of telling yet
another guy how to solve their dual boot issues, but this is genuinely a
problem I can't seem to find discussions on anywhere. Any help would be
greatly appreciated. Anyway, to make this short, I had Vista ultimate
x64 installed. I repartitioned the drive and installed XP (32 bit) fully
expecting my vista installation to...

Mission Impossible? Dual Boot XP and Vista
Hello Everyone,
I know there must be an easier way of getting this to run but
my goal is to install XP and Vista on
one machine using SATA drives. While I am almost positive I could
accomplish the same thing through VMWare, given
what I plan on using the OSes for, I want as little interference from
VMWare as possible.
What I would like to do is...

Remove things from startup -- Can't use defender by
David Walker[_3_]
I have been a happy user of Mike Lin's StartupCPL program on Windows XP
for years.
His Web site, and many others, tell you that Vista now has its own way
to control what starts up.
I don't like programs like the Intel graphics hot-key monitor to run in
the background, and even though you can supposedly turn on and off the
hot-key things from the Display Properties, the hkcmd exe still...

VISTA Installation hangs with GigaByte GA-M57SLI-S4 by
hgs07
Hello,
my old motherboard has been replaced by a brandnew GIGABYTE
GA-M57SLI-S4.
Installation of Windows XP SP3 o.k. I reformated the disk and tried to
install Windows Vista Home Premium (32-Bit). But the installation runs
only the steps:
- Windows files copied
- Files expanded
- Functions installed
Then the System hangs, i.e. Screen is frozen, mouse is dead.

SATA & RAID installations by
Ron O'Brien
My Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit PC originally had two 80gig SATA drives
configured as RAID0.
I replaced those drives with 2x 250gig SATA's also configured as RAID0.
Now I discover that I left an important folder I now need on the original
80gig drives.
I've tried putting one of the drives in an enclosure, but it can't be read
like that. If I put those drives back into the PC will everything...

Reinstalling Ultimate Following WAU by
John
Hello:
I would love some assistance from the team here. I have had Windows
Ultimate running for some time, which I upgraded from Premium using WAU (back
in March of 2007). Now, due to a motherboard failure, I have put in a new
mobo and installed the original Windows Premium. Can I just upgrade to
Ultimate using the Premium disc (which is a WAU disc) and the Ultimate key I
have?
Thx.
