Can't install any downloaded software by
ghettodub
Any time I try to install any downloaded software, for example Winamp,
Firefox, etc, it does not work. I will get a popup that says "(program name)
has stopped working. A problem has caused the program to stop working
correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is
available."
It has done this with every file I've downloaded and tried to install. Also,
some MSI...

replace my old one. I booted up the new one played around a bit and got off,

User accounts do not fully start up--just blue screen by
BST
All new accounts I create on Vista home premium do not login properly. When
a user logs in the explorer.exe process does not start (the user just sees
blank blue screen). It is possible to launch the task manager and start
processes by hand. I found a suggestion on another post that said there was
an incorrect "Shell" registry entry that could be the cause of the problem,
but that was not the...

Genuine Version of Vista by
Gordon
My computer was damaged and sent to Gateway to be repaired. When I got it
back it seemed fine but every month it denies me access to it and says that
my version of Windows is not Genuine, though it came with my computer. I've
had to completely restart my computer six times now and it is very irritating!

I have been having issues with Windows Installer 4 on my copy of Vista
Business.
It has been occurring ever since an update was applied many months ago.
Every time an msi file is installed it will fail and state that msiexec has a
problem with the msi dll. I have performed a binary File compare on both
files with the originals and there are no differences, however it always
creates the same...

titus12
Concerning the clean install, I should:
1. download Windows Easy Install for XP
2. burn settings, accounts, programs to CD
3. do clean install that will wipe my hard drive clean
4. use Easy Install to re-install my XP files and settings
I this the idea?
Thank you,

Creating a recovery CD/DVD by
raghav
Hi,
I got my Vista Business pre-installed with my laptop. I understand that
there is a separate partition for recovery if some thing goes wrong with
vista. There are no CDs/DVDs provided by the manufacturer.
I have dual boot on this laptop now with Ubuntu being the second env. I fear
that if something goes wrong with Ubuntu boot loader, I would loose my stuff.
Is there some way in which I...
