Vista Activation by
JW
Windows Vista is asking me to re-activate windows after upgrading from .5GB
RAM to 1.5GB. When I tried activating using my old product key and it says,
"The product key you typed is already in use." My computer originally shipped
with Windows XP and I used the "Express Upgrade CD" that HP gave me to
upgrade to Vista. Here's some info about my computer:

I've seen this answer 100000 times, and it's bull****. If any

Vista 64 Boot Issue by
Szaijan
I did a "clean" install of Vista 64 over an old install of Win Xp on a RAID-0
stripe across two Raptor drives. The RAID-0 stripe is marked as Drive 1 and
my 250 GB storage drive is marked as Drive 0. The install put the MBR on the
storage drive (Drive 0) and the system files on the RAID stripe (Drive 1.)
This results in my needing the Vista DVD to be in the drive to boot at all,
as the...

to make NTFS permissions easier to manage, I synchronize SIDs between systems
on my primary multiboot system (one machine, one SID regardless of what
software is running on it); i also synchronize one specific user SID (i'm not
a different person just because i reboot my machine).
SO...could someone save me an hour or two with my first Vista install and
apprise me of the user SID (the last...

Vista Ultimate x64 on Sony Vaio VGC-RM1N - Blue screen during install by
alza
Hi there,
I tried to install the 64-bit version of Vista Ultimate on a Sony Vaio
VGC-RM1N but unfortunately I got a 'blue screen of death' shortly after
the installation starts, with the following error:
STOP 0x0000000A IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
I tried again but also pressed the 'F8' key to run setup in safe mode,
and was then able to see the drivers being loaded. The blue screen seems

Failed uppgrade SP1 by
Jeeez
I have a legit Vista Home Prem 32 on an Acer Aspire 5110 AMD Turion 64x2
TL-52 1.60 GHz
Problem: Unable to complete install SP1, and gets code 0x80004005. It seems
to have to do with some kind of registration. I have a Windows Update that
works fine so it seems strange.
The only thing that changed (as I know of) is that now I have in the corner
of my lower right screen, a new message...

Help with Vista x64 SP1 RC registry: CurrentControlSet vanished! by
a.k.a.[_2_]
Hello everyone,
I installed a multiboot of Server 2008 RC2 (with hypervisor), Vista x64 SP1
RC (debugged version from TechNet) and Vista x86. Server and x86 have been
very stable. x64 startup grew corrupt almost immediately.
I've had persistent Autochk runs -- and hangs. The odd thing about the hang
is that the screen freezes after Autochk completes, but I can hear the Vista
desktop startup...

"The product key you typed is already in use" by
Gary Spivey
I purchased an upgrade package from Dell for upgrading to Vista from XP. When
I activated, I got the message "The product key you typed is already in use".
I think this is becuase I briefly used it (few days) and had to swap out the
computer underwarranty. Since Dell was swapping the computer out, they
loaded an OEM version of Vista on the laptop and told me I could use the
upgrade disk on...

Can I install a Vista x64 beside my x86? by
y2kbug
Hi all. My notebook is a x64 one, but comes with OEM x86 Vista Home
Basic. Today I found that there are quite many x64 drivers published and
I want to have a trial on the Vista x64. Is it possible for me to
install a x64 without removing my x86, and dual-booting both of them?
Thanks!

Vista Installation freezes at Completing Installation stage. by
Brain Ache
Have been trying for two days without success to install Vista Home Premium.
I'm trying to install it on a 3.4Ghz Dual Core machine with 3Gb of memory and
a terrabyte of storage. In my endeavours to install the new OS I've stripped
the machine down piece by piece to check for faulty or unsupported hardware.
About an hour ago I took the last possible piece of hardware out and tried
again....
